Brian Atkins on Pallatrax Minimize

Brian AtkinsI first came across Pallatrax products quite a few years back when I fished a carp match at Pallington lakes. Before the match I asked around anglers who had fished the lakes before and found out that the best bait to use was boilies from the Pallatrax range on site. It was a day ticket venue then and anyone who fished the lakes would buy their bait from the shop so most of the bait going into the lakes was from the Pallatrax range and the fish were used to eating it, and liked it, as it outfished other baits.

The bait is made on the premises and has been tested out on the fish over the years and has proved successful on a number of other venues too. I’ve got to know Simon quite well over the years that I’ve fished his lakes and I know that he wouldn’t use any ingredient etc in his bait that wasn’t 100% safe for fish; they are his fish in the lakes and he’s not going to jeopardise the health of his fish.

Since I started fishing at Pallington I’ve never used any other baits other than the Pallatrax range and have been quite successful over the years, the Jungle bait being my favourite.  I wouldn’t go anywhere without a tub of Jungle pop-ups in my bag! Most of the anglers I’ve met at Pallington use the range.  The fish are in fantastic condition and are growing steadily, the big common in the Coarse lake is mostly caught on the Jungle.

On a recent trip to France I fished a lake with some friends.  The fishing was very slow with the fish spawning at the time, but I did manage a few fish on the Jungle pop-up fished zig-rig style when others weren’t catching at all.

A couple of years back I took part in a 48hr session at Pallington for a video about the Stonze System.  Everyone used the same set up ie: Stonze and Stumpy Rigs.  There were 9 anglers in total and 984lb of carp were caught between us, as well as other species, and it opened my eyes to how effective this system is.  By using a natural product, i.e. the Stonze, you don’t have to worry about about leads spooking fish, which has been observed, and a much shorter hooklength can be used, which is more effective, in my opinion.

I prefer to use the Stonze In-lines, which I use with the method mix wrapped around and a 3"– 4" hooklength with a Pallatrax size 8 The Hook.  I use these hooks with total confidence wherever I fish and have landed plenty of 30s and 40s on them, always giving an excellent hookhold.

All in all, I would recommend all of the Pallatrax products as I know that Simon spends plenty of time testing his ideas and wouldn’t bring out a product he wouldn’t use himself!
