Paul Smyth on Pallatrax Minimize

Paul SmythMy passion for angling has taken me down many roads and introduced me to many kinds of people who share different levels of angling skills and interests in our sport.  My own interests in our sport has varied greatly as I love all aspects of fishing for many species right across the board, and my enthusiasm to discover new methods or a new edge for my fishing has, you might say, left no ‘stonze’ unturned.

It was a few years ago now that I first stumbled across a product that really exited me.  It was a product that was impressive by its own simplicity: a natural stone weight.  I could not believe this was not thought of or marketed earlier.  The diversity of its uses were endless compared to leads, with the fact that it was more environmentally friendly being an added bonus and could be used for many different methods in angling besides being a bog standard weight.

It can be doubled up as a method feeder, which over last few years has rewarded me greatly in all kinds of lake fishing catching me my PB tench and carp.  Also, a scaled down version catching me good bags of crucian carp resulting in a PB 3lb 14 oz fish of a lifetime.

One of the most important aspects of this product was that it was a natural object found in most fishes’ environment and would not cause caution among wary inhabitants.  This product had covered both theories important to me in my fishing: innovation the ability to change tactics to suit any given situation or change in conditions, secondly it allowed me to fish with 100% total confidence.

I believe both of the above play an important part in a successful fishing session.  To further this products importance to me, the simple in-line stonze rig aided my capture of a river record barbel on my local River Kennet, which to me was another lifetime achievement.  It was at this time I decided I would like to meet the company behind this product to share my excitement of the stonze and to give credit where it was due for a clever idea by which I was impressed.

I decided to take some pictures of my prize captures to a trade show to show Pallatrax, where I was glad to be met by someone who was obviously as enthusiastic about angling as I was.

It was a great relief to me that behind a great level of professionalism in their business there were some real anglers with real passion for our sport and with anglers’ interests at heart. I have since become more involved with Pallatrax and their ever-growing impressive range of products such as the hook and steamlink hooklink material, alongside increasing ranges of bait and new bait ideas.  I hope that my angling good fortune continues to have an involvement with Pallatrax for many future angling years and adventures.
