A fantastic report from his opening session back on the riverPallatrax Angling
Team Pallatrax member Matt Jackson has sent in this fantastic report from his opening session back on the river… Here’s Matt :-
“Well first river trip of the season to the Don did not go too bad really. After having to work nights over the weekend I couldn’t get down until yesterday but on the plus side it was a lot quieter than it was over the weekend with most people being back at work. Both rods were set up using free running Stonze and a 14 inch Pallatrax braided hooklink finished with a size 8 Gripz hook and one fished on a 14mm Crave boilie wrapped in matching paste with a 6 bait stringer, and the other fished on a 14mm Meat Beast boilie wrapped in matching paste with a PVA bag of crushed and whole boilies. I missed the first take on the Crave rod which I can only put down to me being rusty after the closed season lay off (that’s my excuse and Im sticking to it). The second to come was the little mirror at 7lb 4oz again on the Crave rod and was a welcome bonus as in two years of targeting the barbel on this stretch Ive never had a carp from it and it was a pretty little fish. During the last couple of hours the cloud rolled over and with the reduced light levels the barbel began feeding with both coming in quick succession and both on the Meat Beast rod one at 4lb and the other 5lb 3oz… not monsters but a good start to the season. Next sessions going to be on Wednesday night to try and locate the bigger fish.
Great start to the season Matt.. well done.
