New 30lb for Orchid Lakes

New 30lb for Orchid Lakes

Just a quick catch report from my 3 day session at Orchid lakes over the weekend:
The fishing was tough due to extremely cold easterly winds and a very busy lake! There were around 8 carp banked between probably 30-40 anglers whilst I was there, and I was lucky enough to bank an absolutely stunning heavily scaled Mirror weighing in 31lb 3oz on my first night at the lake.

This fish was a new 30 for Orchid and I was privileged to be asked to name the fish by the owner Marsh. I named the fish after my beautiful daughter Morgan, who was delighted when I told her!!! Unfortunately another chap moved into the right of me the next morning and this pushed the fish out my area for the rest of my stay.

The successful tactic was a Pallatrax Crave 14mm pop up tipped with a 10mm orange Jungle flarze Squab, this was fished over a few handfuls of crushed Crave and Multiworm and also a few handfuls of hemp. The winning rig was a Size 4 Hook attached to a 30lb Snaglink hook length with a couple of blobs of the superb Pallatrax rig putty. My next session will be on Ashmead in just over a week’s time, so fingers crossed you will be hearing from me soon.

Tight lines,
James (The YOT)
