New PB for Mark Owen with ‘No.8’ at a huge weight of 49lb 2oz

As with my last session at the cracking Emperor Lake syndicate water, I decided to fish on the back of a strong to gale force South-Westerly wind and once again put faith in what has turned out to be the ever reliable Pallatrax Jungle 14mm boillies fished snowmen with a size 6 Pallatrax ‘The Hook,’ presented on a combi rig with a medium size silt coloured Stonze. I fished two rods over a kilo of Jungle freebies, with my left hand rod over approximately 50/60 freebies. I didn’t have to wait long for the first bite, slipping the net under a scale perfect 10lb stockie common.

The rest of the night passed with most of my rods receiving liners, so it looked like my hunch had paid off and knew I was on the fish. At 8am the following morning I received a one toner on my middle rod, instantly knowing this was certainly no stockie as it went on long surging runs. Finally the battle was won, resulting in one of the lakes A-team sulking in my net! Knees and Jelly spring to mind! Luckily I had a couple of anglers in my swim to help with the weighing and photos

The Mirror known as ‘No.8’ not only gave me a new UK PB, but also her best ever weight of 49lb 2oz! Certainly a session to remember; however, it wasn’t over yet as around 90 minutes later my Left hand rod was away. Following yet another arm wrestling fight, I once again had another large mirror resting in my landing net. This fish tipped the scales at 38lb 9oz. In less than 2 hours I had landed an 87lb 11oz brace of mirrors – definitely a weekend to remember!
